Center for Community Health Ministry

Health Care/Hospital Coordinator Preparation Course

Building Healthy Communities through Health Ministry Training

Today’s communities face tremendous challenges. Healthcare facilities endeavor to provide crisis care, diagnostic and hi-tech treatment strategies with appropriate follow-up. With the anticipated health care needs associated with the aging population and ethnic diversity, we must employ disease prevention and health promotion strategies which are targeted and effective in reaching community populations for health behavior change. Florida Hospital has worked over the last 10 years to develop this effective tool for Health Ministry. The Center for Community Health Ministry has trained over 1,000 Parish Nurses and members of congregations for effective health ministry.

The Coordinator Preparation Course prepares the Hospital Coordinator, church denomination or other region-wide representative to effectively develop Health Ministry Teams within faith congregations. This 16-hour training session, taught from an inter-faith perspective, provides the attendee (Coordinator) with key whole-person health concepts and the training tools necessary for preparing successful health ministry teams within community congregations.

The role of the Coordinator is defined as one who instructs congregational leaders, and continues to support each congregation through ongoing consulting, resource and information sharing.

Communities working together do become healthier!
